5 Daily Habits That Changed My Life

Small, Simple, but a Game Changer

Becoming HER is about enjoying the process — no matter what season of life you're in.
We’re all a work in progress. At our best and at our worst. But what I’ve learned is that living intentionally is the difference between just existing and actually building a life that lights you up. When you're going through the motions — no goals, no structure, no vision — you start settling. You roll over in bed, scroll your phone, drag yourself through the day, and do the bare minimum to survive.
That was me. At my lowest, I was consumed with everything except myself. I cared what people thought. I stayed in relationships that weren’t aligned. I chased validation and made decisions based on how they looked to others — not how they felt to me.
I didn’t know who I was.I didn’t know what I wanted.And I sure as hell wasn’t doing anything to change it.
That started to shift when I got honest with myself and asked: What do I actually want? What is my purpose? And most importantly — am I living for me, or for everyone else?
From there, I started showing up differently. Little by little. Not perfectly. But intentionally.
Here are 5 daily habits that helped me get to where I am — and keep me from slipping back into the version of me who was just getting by.
1) Set Your Alarm 30–60 Minutes Earlier Than You "Need" To
I used to set my alarm at the last possible second. Just enough time to get ready and rush out the door. Mornings were chaos — I’d start my day already stressed, snapping at Magnolia for not going pee fast enough (lol, sorry girl), and racing around like the world was ending.
Now? I wake up earlier and give myself a buffer. Even just 30 minutes makes a difference. It lets me move slower, think clearly, and actually be a human before jumping into the day. Waking up early changed my mornings from anxious and reactive to calm and intentional. Huge shift.
2) Make Your Damn Bed
I know, it’s simple. But that’s the point.
Making your bed first thing gives you structure. It starts your day with a win. It’s the first thing I check off mentally that reminds me — okay, I’ve got this. You don’t need a 20-step morning routine to change your life. Sometimes, it starts with fluffing your pillows and pulling the covers tight.
3) Get Outside and Walk Within 30 Minutes of Waking Up
Yes, Magnolia needs to pee, so I’m forced outside early anyway — but I’ve made this a non-negotiable.
I go for a walk every single morning, at least 15 minutes. It gets my body moving, my head clear, and gives me a second to just be. It jumpstarts your metabolism, improves your mood, and wakes up your brain and body before the distractions of the day creep in.
A body in motion stays in motion. Same goes for your energy, your attitude, and your momentum.
4) Eat Breakfast — Every. Damn. Day.
This one? I’ll die on this hill.
I don’t care what diet trend is out there — breakfast is non-negotiable for me. I will never skip it. I don’t function without it. It fuels me, sets the tone for the rest of my meals, and gives me the energy to tackle my morning. Whether it’s a breakfast sandwich, smoothie, eggs and toast — I make time for it.Fuel your body like it matters. Because it does.
5) Set an Intention for the Day
This is huge for me — and it’s honestly one of the biggest mindset shifts I’ve ever made.
Before I let the world have a say in how my day goes, I decide. I ask myself something like:
“How do I want to show up today?”
“What do I need to protect my peace?”
“What can I control no matter what happens today?”
And I speak it out loud:👉 “I’m not letting anyone else's energy mess with mine.”👉 “I’m staying grounded no matter what’s thrown at me.”
You’d be shocked how much this works. When you set an intention first thing, and something annoying happens later in the day, your brain goes, “Wait… we already decided this wasn’t going to ruin our vibe.”
You lead your day — or your day leads you.And I don’t know about you, but I’m done giving my power away.
If you're in a rut or just feel like life’s running you, not the other way around — start here.
These 5 habits are simple, not sexy. But they are transformational. They’re what keep me grounded. Clear. And connected to HER — the version of me I’m always becoming.
